God's Peace For Restful Sleep

Did you know that every word you listen to can affect your spiritual well-being, your physical health and even your sleep?

A visiting evangelist told me about ministering to a lady in the hospital. Day after day he anointed her and prayed... and day after day she got worse, until in desperation, he asked the Lord, "What's going on?" The Lord pointed to the television which was constantly on in her room and revealed that all words are powerful and what we listen to, good or bad, can influence every aspect of our being. Even when she wasn't watching the shows, the constant barrage of negative words were doing their work. Within a few days after turning the TV off, the doctors released her with a clean bill of health.

What kinds of words have you been listening to? What have you allowed to penetrate your heart? As you prepare for sleep, have you been beset by tension or an unsettled feeling you can't explain? What have you absorbed this evening? Gossip, arguments, idle talk and bad news all tend to jar and unsettle our spirits.

Soundproof your heart! Learn to tune your ears to God's Word and the positive things He would have nourish your heart. For He says, "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11, NKJV).

God's Word, and the words He inspires to flow forth from other people, build and heal. They give peace and rest and accomplish in you what would please the Lord.
